We are currently seeking passionate and like-minded individuals who share our values and dedication to join our dynamic GSTC Team as Auditors and Country Representatives.
Your Role:The GSTC Auditor and Country Representative plays a crucial role in development of GSTC Program of UCSL within the country. This role involves planning, performing, and following up on audits of hotels and tour operators against GSTC criteria. Additionally, the position includes active engagement in the local tourism industry to promote sustainable practices and expand the GSTC certification footprint.
Core Responsibilities:- Conducting Audits: You will be responsible for performing GSTC audits of hotels and tour operators, both onsite and remotely.
- Local Representation: As a Country Representative, you will serve as the primary point of contact for GSTC Program in your region. This involves maintaining strong relationships with local stakeholders, promoting the benefits of GSTC certification, and supporting businesses in their sustainability journey.
- Client Engagement and Acquisition: You will actively engage with the tourism industry to identify potential clients interested in GSTC certification. This includes attending industry events, delivering presentations, and fostering partnerships that align with GSTC’s mission.
- Planning and Promotion: In collaboration with the UCSL team, you will plan and participate in promotional activities, including workshops, webinars, and other events aimed at raising awareness of GSTC certification and its benefits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the GSTC Program Manager and other internal stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and alignment with organizational goals.
What You BringOur ideal candidate combines professional experience, strong skills, and a passion for sustainable tourism that aligns with UCSL's values:
- Professionalism: At least 2 years of experience in the hospitality, tourism, environmental management, or social sector. Familiarity with GSTC and other tourism certification standards is a plus. A willingness and capability for ongoing learning and professional development are essential.
- Communication Skills: Fluent in both oral and written English, with native proficiency in Thai, Indonesian, or Japanese. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent personal organizational and work planning skills, demonstrating high productivity and the ability to manage competing work priorities. Strong personal and work ethics, with a successful record of project development and management. A solutions-oriented approach to working with clients and within a team. Proven ability to plan and organize work independently and meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment and to maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. The ability to work successfully as part of a team is essential.
- Analytical Skills: Well-developed analytical and systematic problem-solving skills, demonstrating sound reasoning abilities and logical decision-making.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the auditing role, remaining professional when handling complaints and/or conflicts of interest. Ability to work in an international arena and interact with other international organizations.
- Travel Readiness: A significant amount of travel is required for this role.
- Education: At least a secondary education certificate, preferably in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Tourism, or Hospitality. A Master's or PhD degree is highly appreciated.
- Qualification: Background knowledge and training in quality and/or environmental management systems (such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or other relevant ISO standards from internationally or nationally recognized training organizations) is required. Lead auditor qualification based on ISO 19011 is required. Successful completion of GSTC's Training for Auditors is highly desirable. If not yet completed, we are prepared to support your participation in this training.
