Job description The MSC Fishery Team Leader will be responsible for conducting audits to verify that seafood product identified as MSC certified originated from a certified source.
An overview of the main duties is provided below:
- Performing audits as the Team Leader (including pre-audit preparation and post-audit follow up);
- Consolidation and writing reports against the MSC's Fishery Standard and Certification Requirements using UCSL's document templates;
- Participating in annual training;
- Any other duties as assigned.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in business, economics, science or technical subject (e.g. supply chain and logistics management, food/seafood science and fisheries science);

OR
3 years' experience in the fisheries sector related to the tasks under the responsibility of the team leader;
- Pass the MSC's fishery team leader training course at least every 5 years;
- Have undertaken at least 2 MSC fishery assessment or surveillance site visits as a team member in the last 5 years; or for new fishery team leaders only: have undertaken an assessment as team leader that will be witnessed by an MSC-appointed accreditation body as part of a CAB's initial accreditation audit;
- Obtained a Chartered Quality Institute/International Register of Certificated Auditors' (CQI/IRCA) or Exemplar Global-recognized lead assessor accreditation in either: Environmental Management Systems (EMS) / Quality Management Systems (QMS) / Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) approved standards / Hazard Analysis Critical; Control Point (HACCP);
- OR registered as an EMS/QMS auditor with CQI/IRCA or Exemplar Global;
- OR passed a CQI/IRCA or Exemplar Global recognized course on auditing based upon ISO 19011 (which had a minimum duration of 3 days);
- Demonstrate competence when scoring the fishery, setting conditions and monitoring their fulfillment;
- Have knowledge of the legislative and normative legal framework in the field of fisheries management, fishery risk assessment, relevant national and international laws;
- Demonstrated continuous professional development as relevant for the type of conducted audits;
- Fluent Russian and English (spoken and written), knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
