UCSL is expanding its internal audit team and is looking for an ISO Management Systems Auditor to join us full-time.

This role is ideal for an auditor with experience in ISO standards who would like to grow into sustainability and tourism certification. Previous GSTC experience is not mandatory – we provide full training and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

You will support certification audits for tourism businesses, including remote and on-site assessments:

Conduct GSTC audits (remote and on-site) for tourism industry
Participate in international audit missions, including on-site assessments at client locations
Prepare audit reports, nonconformities, and audit conclusions in line with GSTC and ISO-based methodologies
Communicate professionally with clients, auditors, and internal certification teams
Participate in continuous training on GSTC Standards and certification requirements

Key Requirements

Experience working with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO 45001, etc.)
Working proficiency in English and Russian (spoken and written)
Background in auditing, certification, quality, sustainability, or management systems
Ability to work independently in a remote, international environment
Willingness and availability to travel for on-site audits (international assignments)

Job description

The MSC Fishery Team Leader will be responsible for conducting audits to verify that seafood product identified as MSC certified originated from a certified source.

An overview of the main duties is provided below:

Performing audits as the Team Leader (including pre-audit preparation and post-audit follow up);
Consolidation and writing reports against the MSC's Fishery Standard and Certification Requirements using UCSL's document templates;
Participating in annual training;
Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Professional Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in business, economics, science or technical subject (e.g. supply chain and logistics management, food/seafood science and fisheries science);
OR 3 years' experience in the fisheries sector related to the tasks under the responsibility of the team leader;
Pass the MSC's fishery team leader training course at least every 5 years;
Have undertaken at least 2 MSC fishery assessment or surveillance site visits as a team member in the last 5 years; or for new fishery team leaders only: have undertaken an assessment as team leader that will be witnessed by an MSC-appointed accreditation body as part of a CAB's initial accreditation audit;
Obtained a Chartered Quality Institute/International Register of Certificated Auditors' (CQI/IRCA) or Exemplar Global-recognized lead assessor accreditation in either: Environmental Management Systems (EMS) / Quality Management Systems (QMS) / Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) approved standards / Hazard Analysis Critical; Control Point (HACCP);
OR registered as an EMS/QMS auditor with CQI/IRCA or Exemplar Global;
OR passed a CQI/IRCA or Exemplar Global recognized course on auditing based upon ISO 19011 (which had a minimum duration of 3 days);
Demonstrate competence when scoring the fishery, setting conditions and monitoring their fulfillment;
Have knowledge of the legislative and normative legal framework in the field of fisheries management, fishery risk assessment, relevant national and international laws;
Demonstrated continuous professional development as relevant for the type of conducted audits;
Fluent Russian and English (spoken and written), knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

Writing reports against the MSC's Fishery Standard and Certification Requirements using UCSL's document templates;
Participating in annual training;
Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Professional Qualifications

University degree in fisheries, marine conservation biology, natural resources environmental management or relevant field (e.g. economics, mathematics, statistics);
OR 3 years' management or research experience in a marine conservation biology, fisheries, natural resources or environmental management position;
3 years' or more experience of applying relevant stock assessment techniques being used by the fishery under assessment;
OR Primary authorship of 2 peer-reviewed stock assessments of a type used by the fishery under assessment;
3 years' or more experience working with the biology and population dynamics of the target species or species with similar biology;
Pass the MSC's fishery team member training course at least every 5 years;
Ability to undertake a stock assessment using stock assessment techniques relevant to the fishery;
Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to interpret, scientific information relating to the biological processes of the target species, or species with similar population dynamics.
Demonstrated continuous professional development as relevant for the type of conducted audits;
IT literacy with proficiency across Microsoft Office;
Fluent English (spoken and written), knowledge of Russian or other languages would be an asset.

OR 3 years' management or research experience in a marine conservation biology, fisheries, natural resources or environmental management position;
3 years' or more experience in research into, policy analysis for, or management of, the impact of fisheries on aquatic ecosystems including at least two of the following topics: bycatch, endangered, threatened, or protected (ETP) species, habitats, ecosystem interactions. AND Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to interpret, scientific data relating to the impact of fisheries on at least 2 of the topics listed above;
Pass the MSC's fishery team member training course at least every 5 years;
Ability to undertake a stock assessment using stock assessment techniques relevant to the fishery;
Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to interpret, scientific information relating to the biological processes of the target species, or species with similar population dynamics.
Demonstrated continuous professional development as relevant for the type of conducted audits;

Pass the MSC's fishery team member training course at least every 5 years;
Ability to undertake a stock assessment using stock assessment techniques relevant to the fishery;

UCSL is accredited for various volunteer sustainability certification schemes including Hotels & Tour Operators (GSTC), Marine (ASC, MSC), Global Sustainable Enterprise System (GSES) etc. UCSL is looking to recruit MSC/ASC Program Fishery Manager.

Job description

The MSC/ASC Program Fishery Manager will be responsible for the Certification assessment planning and implementation control incl. conformance of the accreditation standards and normative regulations of relevant certification schemes. The MSC/ASC Program Fishery Manager will subordinate to the Director of Marine Program within UCSL. Depending on the permanent residence location, several business trips per year might be required.

An overview of the main duties is provided below:

Communication with fishery clients;
Application review;
Certification assessment planning and control;
Maintaining the documents related to the MSC and ASC certification activity;
Management of document flow of the certification systems;
Execution of certificates;
Work with the CRM system;
Development and fulfillment of corrective and preventive actions on internal and external audits within MSC and ASC certification;
Expert auditors work evaluation and supervision;
Scheme Owners (MSC, ASC, etc.) as well as any relevant to the Fisheries information internal and external communication (via e.g., stakeholder / expert / client newsletter, etc.).

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

University degree in a relevant field (Fishery, Aquaculture, Environmental Management, and other related fields) would be preferred, however Administration/Certification/Assurance related fields/experience are also considered as an asset;
At least 3 years of professional experience in evaluation and/ or certification related activities;
Successful completion/willingness to obtain the official training courses on the standards ISO/IEC 17065:2012, ISO 19011:2018 as well as all MSC Fishery related training modules;
IT literate with proficiency across Microsoft Office and/or CRM system;
Fluent English (spoken and written) and Russian are necessary
