Excalibur Adventure Park Becomes
Belize’s First to Achieve GSTC Certification
Belize’s leading adventure park demonstrated verifiable sustainability performance and a clear strategy for continuously enhancing its best practices during a rigorous audit conducted by UCSL.
United Certification Systems Ltd. (UCSL), a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body, proudly announces that Excalibur Adventure Park Ltd, a Belizean family-owned operator delivering first-in-class adventure and entertainment experiences, has achieved GSTC Certification for sustainable tourism operations following an independent, on-site assessment.

Located along Belize’s scenic Coastal Highway, Excalibur Adventure Park offers a wide range of outdoor experiences including ziplining, Via Ferrata, caving, rappelling, river tubing, and cultural encounters that immerse visitors in the country’s natural landscapes and vibrant heritage. The certification confirms Excalibur’s compliance with the GSTC Industry Standard for Tour Operators, the world’s leading benchmark for sustainable travel and tourism, and marks an important milestone for Belize.
"Excalibur Adventure Park showcases what responsible adventure tourism can look like: deeply local, well-managed, and committed to both people and planet. The team has a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and transparency – values that lie at the heart of the GSTC framework."
Olga Shuvalova, CEO of UCSL
The audit confirmed an integration of sustainability principles across Excalibur Adventure Park’s management systems, community partnerships, and visitor experiences. The park operates on a predominantly renewable-energy model, with 95% of its electricity generated from solar power. All data are tracked through inverter and fuel monitoring systems and reviewed quarterly to identify improvement opportunities. Water quality and consumption are monitored, monthly waste audits are performed, and noise and light pollution are minimized through careful planning and eco-friendly infrastructure.

Social and economic responsibility are equally embedded in the company’s approach. Excalibur employs an entirely Belizean team and sources 93.75% of its suppliers locally, ensuring that tourism revenue directly benefits surrounding communities. The park actively promotes Belize’s cultural heritage through its collaboration with the Manatee Creole Drumming and Cultural Band, while guided tours and interpretive materials celebrate Creole and Maya traditions with respect and authenticity.
Its Sustainable Visitor Code of Conduct encourages guests to protect the environment and engage responsibly with local culture, and regular staff training ensures that safety, inclusivity, and sustainability remain at the core of every experience. No animal interaction tours are offered.

These commitments are formalized in Excalibur’s Sustainability Management System, which sets measurable indicators for energy use, water consumption, waste generation, and local procurement. Data are compiled in daily and monthly logs, analyzed during quarterly management reviews, and summarized in an annual sustainability report. This structured approach reflects Excalibur’s philosophy of continuous improvement and transparency – qualities essential to long-term sustainability performance.

Achieving GSTC Certification is a proud moment for our entire team,” said Bradley James Rinehart, Managing Director of Excalibur Adventure Park. "From the beginning, our mission has been to offer authentic adventure experiences that celebrate and protect Belize’s natural beauty, culture and communities. The UCSL assessment provided meaningful insights into our progress and reaffirmed our responsibility to keep raising the bar for the tourism industry."
