Tuesday 3 October 2023, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London has officially been recognised by The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) as a certified hotel, acknowledging its commitments and dedication towards sustainability.

Group Director of Sustainability, Area Vice President Operations and General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, Torsten van Dullemen, proudly collected the award from Olga Shuvalova, CEO of The United Certification Systems Limited (UCSL) at the ceremony which took place at the hotel on Monday 02 October 2023, at 10.00 AM BST.

The Global Sustainable Tourism Council oversees the GSTC Criteria which is the global standards for sustainable travel and tourism. The council also acts as an international body that provides assurance for sustainable tourism certification across three key subsectors of tourism: hotels, accommodations, tour operators and agencies as well as destinations.

To attain certification, hotels undergo a rigorous assessment against key performance indicators in alignment with the GSTC Criteria for Hotels.
A) Demonstrate effective sustainable management.
B) Maximise social and economic benefits to the local community and minimise negative impacts.
C) Maximise benefits to cultural heritage and minimise negative impacts.
D) Maximise benefits to the environment and minimise negative impacts.

for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The certification not only acknowledges the hotel's

Cyprus to achieve this prestigious certification.
